Traffic Ticket

“because the Lord disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.” Proverbs 3:12 NIV

Yesterday Tracy and I went to court via Zoom (that’s a story in and out itself!) for a traffic violation hearing. Since our last name is Paulino (starts with the letter P) the judge had to go through a lot of people before getting to us. The ticket in question was a red light right turn in Miami and the potential penalty was around $250.00.

As the  judge started letting people know to “expect being found guilty” and the video cameras started rolling showing all of out vehicles, I went from anger to a different peace. Why? Because do you know the times I’ve gone over the speed limit or made an illegal turn, and never got caught? Plenty of times. So, if this 1 time I needed to pay $250 so be it.

Today’s Bible verse reminds us not to fight back when God disciplines us for He disciplines those He loves. Discipline is good, even if sometimes it tastes sour.
