“But I will sing of your strength, in the morning I will sing of your love; for you are my fortress, my refuge in times of trouble.” Psalms 59:16 NIV
There’s something special about setting time aside for God first thing in the morning. King David talks about singing to God in the morning, I’m more of a reading/journaling, and you might be about something else, but the principle remains the same.
A couple of weeks ago a young man struggling with cocaine abuse joined my caseload and after the first 7 days of sobriety we introduced praying the Lords Prayer, on his knees, every morning as part of his new recovery routine. At the time he didn’t know the prayer so he had to pull it up on his phone and read it, but now is becoming second nature… and he loves it! He’s now close to 20 days sober and we are celebrating everyday by starting it off the right way, in alignment with God.
Let us incorporate something in the mornings to calibrate our days properly.
